M-B SHINE & SHOW - 2023

Whether displaying top down or up; or windows open or closed; on Sunday, June 4th thirty-three Mercedes vehicles (many from the MBCA) were prepared for the Shine & Show Mercedes Car Show and driven to The Corners at the Town of Brookfield, west of Milwaukee.

Cleaning, polishing, and detailing our Benz’s is approached differently by each owner. Regardless of prep method, we are proud to show off our choice of model and it’s features and history, while discussing the brand. This Car Show embodied that spirit. The Corners is a unique outdoor shopping, dining, living center, and entertainment center roughly at the crossroads of I-94 and Hwy 18 with Barker Road. The Corners is the host venue for a few European-brand car club shows over the summer. Besides all the business attractions, The Corners features a layout of ‘interior streets’ that can be closed to display our vehicles right in front of the businesses and amidst the pedestrian traffic; which is plentiful. What is unique at this facility is their vast 600+ parking stalls beneath the street level with multiple stair and elevator access-points throughout. Security is excellent and security personnel are extremely attentive and cooperative, helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all.

This M-B Shine & Show (our second year) at The Corners doubled in size. We thank all that participated, either for fun or for awards. And we appreciated the dealer support from Mercedes-Benz, Milwaukee North Shore with the presence of Spencer Marquart and his vast knowledge of M-B automobiles along with a display of three current models: a Black EQS-580, a Silver C43, and a White GT53 with a brilliant red accented interior! M-B Milwaukee North Shore is the areas certified AMG dealership and the latest advertiser in our club’s Badger Star Newsletter. Additionally, we need to thank Jordyn Swan of The Corners event staff for all her efforts coordinating details and advertising for the event. And we want to thank members Todd Knutson and Richard Diercksmeier for applying their knowledge and talents to our vehicle judging and other details of the car show.

A wide variety of years and models were displayed with hardly any repeated across the field of entries. Here is a listing of the cars that took home a plaque from the event:
New (under 20yrs) Class: BEST IN SHOW – Charles Steinkraus 2013 SL550; BEST INTERIOR – Michael Stephens 2007 CLK63 AMG cabriolet; BEST EXTERIOR – Ilija Mladenovic 2011 E63AMG.

Classic (20yrs +) Class: BEST IN SHOW – Stephan & Mary Lou Beard 1979 500SL; BEST INTERIOR –Frank & Cathy Lubinski 1989 300SEL sedan; BEST EXTERIOR – Mark & Traci Purath 1986 420SEL sedan.

Also continuing was the tradition of award selected by Englishman, Robert Gould, VP of IM Properties, owner/managers of The Corners complex. Mr Gould has owned several Mercedes. This year he selected as GOULD’S FAVORITE – Terry Bruss 2009 C63 for this award.

Additionally, there were 4-door prizes provided to the club at a discount by Elmbook Mercedes Benz; a golf putter donated by Del Kolasinski (a non-member who also showed his Mercedes;) and a $35 gift card to The Corners, donated by The Corners management.  Keep this in mind when you are shopping at any of the locations.

Great comments were received during the show from attendees generally raving about how super the location is for an event of this type and stating they hope the show is back next year. We hope to see you there. Thank you all for your participation.
