2022 Christmas Party & Annual Meeting Review

Sunday December 4, 2022

40 members and guests attended the Christmas Party and Annual Meeting at the Golden Mast on Lake Okauchee.  With clear skies and moderate temperatures members gathered in the Golden Mast’s festively decorated banquet hall for conversation, catching up with one another and exchanging Christmas greetings.

The Golden Mast’s fabulous champagne Sunday brunch was enjoyed.  The slide show recapping 2022 events played continuously, reminding us of how successful the year was.

After brunch President Bruce Hamilton conducted our annual meeting.  New members and board members were recognized and welcomed.  Bruce reviewed the 2022 event calendar, and the first event of 2023, our 5th Annual Valentine’s Drive-to-Dine.

Dan Hellenberg then covered Section business during the year while Frank Lubinski reviewed the financial condition of the Section and the challenges we face due to lack of financial support from MBCA National.  Bruce echoed those concerns and updated the membership on how we arrived at our present financial condition.

Bruce then remarked that we came upon a number of milestone membership pins.  Nancy Pearson was presented a 45 year membership pin and Dan Hellenberg received a pin for his 30 years of membership.

Dick Kusch was then presented with his Member of the Year Award for his continued efforts to engage our membership located outside the Madison-Milwaukee area.  Dick joined the MBCA in 2008 and has always been active in the Section, including his continued service on our Board.

Last, but definitely not least, Bailey Hansen was recognized for her 5 years of service as the Section’s Newsletter Editor.  Bailey was presented with a recognition plaque and a framed copy of the front page of the October-November issue of the Badger Star.

The Annual Meeting concluded on a very positive note with a door prize raffle, group picture and everyone looking forward to 2023.  The day didn’t end there, as many remained long after the Meeting enjoying the Gemütlichkeit!
