As I watch the big waves on Green Bay with an outside temperature of 44, a 25 mph wind and heavy rain, it’s hard to believe that I’m writing my remarks for the June – July issue of the Badger Star.  As we look towards the warmer months, the Wisconsin Section has events planned for everyone, regardless of what you enjoy or where you live in our Section.

Before we get to upcoming events, I would like to thank Mike McKinney and his staff for hosting the 14th annual Spring Tech Session at Black Forest on April 27.  In spite of the weather and the plumbing issue at Black Forest, all who attended enjoyed the event.  Thank you to Bernd Kampe for serving as the MBCA host that day.

The weather was much more cooperative on May 5th for our New Member Reception and Drive-2-Dine.  Nancy & Dean Pearson did a great job with the event.

Our most recent event was our May 18th trip to the Spring Vintage races at Road America.  Thank you to John Ledbury for hosting.

You can read more about all 3 recent events elsewhere in this newsletter.

Upcoming Events

We are working on a Drive-2-Dine to a museum in the Roscoe IL area sometime this summer, but the museum hasn’t responded to us as I write this, so our next event at this time is Starry Nights, Friday July 12th

On July 27th, Dick and Nancy Kusch are hosting a Hill Tour and Drive-2-Dine west of Madison.

Show N Glow by the Lake (formerly Milwaukee Masterpiece) will be held Sunday, August 4th, and your Section has once again arranged with Show N Glow organizers to have all Mercedes grouped together in one area on the show grounds.  Show N Glow organizers are requesting that you to register as soon as possible this year to display your Mercedes.

Our own “Concours within a Concours” is the opportunity to have your Mercedes judged against other Mercedes by our own MBCA team of judges.  You can just display your Mercedes as part of Show N Glow, or show your car and have it judged against other Mercedes who choose to be judged.  Trophies will be awarded to those who participate in the Concours within a Concours.

Read more about these events elsewhere in this newsletter, and check out the entire upcoming calendar of events in the  newsletter.

We are always looking for feedback and opinions from our members, so if you have a suggestion for a Drive-to-Dine venue or an idea for an event, please contact me or anyone of our board members.

Show Cards Available

Your Section has purchased a quantity of Display Cards for Shows from the MBCA National Club Store.  They are 15 in. x 8 in., heavy cardstock, and are ideal for giving the details of your Mercedes when you show or display your car.  Contact me if you would like one.

Have a Story About Your Journey?

We’re looking for the next story about “The Journey,” the personal story of how a member obtained their beloved Mercedes.  Do you have a story about your Mercedes?  Did you travel across the continent to find the perfect Benz for you, or find it sitting a barn, awaiting a new home?  Whether it happened last week or a decade ago, if you have an interesting story about “the journey,” how you acquired your favorite Mercedes-Benz, we want to publish it.  Contact newsletter liaison John Ledbury with your story.

Please join with me in welcoming our newest members as of May 20th

John Girotti                              Timothy Lillesand                          Joshua Drew

Don & Kathy Sneider          Pauline Stollenwerk                          Kyle Mahan

A final request, PLEASE give us your feedback!  We are always looking to improve your membership experience and give you value for your member dues.  Your comments and suggestions are always welcome, and new member or long-timer, I’d love to hear from you.

I close these remarks by extending our sympathies to Bernd Kampe and his family.  Bernd lost his sister earlier this spring.
