PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I open my remarks for this edition of the Badger Star by saying “Thank You” to our advertisers.  Their support of this publication helps your Section defray the costs of publishing, printing and mailing, and we ask our members to support our advertisers whenever possible. Be sure and tell them you’re a Club member when using their services!

The last two months have been a busy time for your Wisconsin Section. Members exhibited their cars at Show & Glow August 5th. We headed to Waupaca August 25th for a Drive-to-Dine and a cruise on the Chief Waupaca paddleboat. Oktoberfest was celebrated September 8th and a week later we enjoyed a Drive-to-Dine event at Road America’s Fall Vintage Festival. Read more about these events elsewhere in this newsletter. Thank you to JoAnne Peterson, Bernd Kampe and John Ledbury for organizing and

hosting these events.

Upcoming Events

Our next event is the Fall Color Tour in the Galena Illinois area October 26th – 28th. Reservations are open for our Christmas Party and Annual Meeting, Saturday December 8th, at 11:00 a.m. By popular demand we are returning to the Wisconsin Club in downtown Milwaukee. And make plans now to join us for our 29th Annual Bus Trip to the Chicago Auto Show, tentatively scheduled for Sunday February 10th, 2019. Finally, we are again planning a Fish Fry in March, and a May 2019 New Member Welcome and Drive-to-Dine. Sadly, we are not holding a Fall Tech Session this year. Even with repeated requests from your Section, none of the three Mercedes dealerships in the Milwaukee area showed any interest in hosting our club’s Tech Session this fall. Check out the full event calendar elsewhere in this newsletter. Other events may be added, and I close my remarks on upcoming events with…  If you have a suggestion for a Drive-to-Dine venue or an idea for an event, please contact myself or one of our other board members. We are always looking for feedback and opinions from our members. Don’t want to tackle an  event by yourself ? Consider co-hosting an event with another member.

Call for Board Members

We are seeking members who have an interest in serving on the Board of Directors. A Director will serve for a three year term beginning in January 2019. Three positions are open. Board members meet once a month for two hours to plan and direct Section activities and establish policies and procedures for Section events. Among other things, the Board is responsible for developing and maintaining a running twelve-month calendar of events and capturing requests from members for activities & events. Board members  O NOT have to travel to attend board meetings; most meetings are now held using the Section’s GoToMeeting web conferencing software.  Members who sit on the Board of Directors should be willing and able to:

• Attend a majority of monthly board meetings held throughout the year.

• Participate in periodic email exchanges to achieve Board & Section objectives.

• Attend Section functions throughout the year.

• Be willing to host at least one event during your three year term. An event can be as simple as hosting a Drive-to-Dine or as elaborate as planning and hosting a rallye.

• Be a proactive and positive representative of MBCA and the Wisconsin Section.

Serving on the Board of Directors is a great way to meet other members and increase your involvement in the Section. If you are interested in serving on the Board please contact either myself or Secretary Dan Hellenberg. Nominations close Thursday, October 25th. Ballots will be mailed shortly thereafter, with election results announced at the Annual Meeting.

Please join me in welcoming our newest members as of September 21st:

John Coury                  Paul Jobst                    Randy Kluth

Gary Knowles              Cris Meyer                   Gary Rude

Eftychios Sifakis         Greg Tidmarsh

I would also like to thank the 86 members who have renewed their membership since January 1st. THANK YOU to everyone for being a member of this Club. We couldn’t exist without your interest and participation; it’s what makes this organization successful. New member or long-timer, I’d love to hear from you; your comments and suggestions are always welcome. We are always looking to improve your membership experience and give you value for your member dues.

Looking forward to seeing you an at upcoming Wisconsin Section event.
